Computer took a dive
Well about a week ago I went to upgrade one simple part of my system. Of course I let my hubby do it because I have no idea what I was doing my system is slowly but surely becoming a new system because of all the old parts I have been replacing lol. Well I replaced the CD rom with a DVD drive. Well that is were the fun began . My sweet little computer that has been my trusted companion for years now won’t power up. So we think it is the mother board and order a new tower case that has that in it. And when it arrived today I was so excited I was going to be able to be back at my desk instead of the extra computer … WRONG!!! .. no … it doesn’t see the hard drives now … what do we do now … well we decide that the slave drive can become the main drive i don’t care if I loose all my pics or what ever I just want my computer back. I will install and download what ever I just want it back asap. Within reason that is. He proceeds to start that work and nope that won’t even work we switch the old IDE cables out thinking maybe that will do the trick no not that either. *SIGH* he is frustrated .. he looks at me “baby i need to step back for a while and deal with it later” I understand I tell him.. yeah i have been without it since sun or was it sat time has gone by too long …. I am feeling like I won’t have it back But I know he will do everything he can to get it back as soon as he can. I tell him I don’t want him to frustrate his self over it especially after we have go home from work. Deal with it another time. So that is why it has taken me so long to post… Plus remembering passwords from a second computer we have at home lol… wish me all that everything comes out well and she is back up and running soon with out to much more that is needed to be bought… *fingers crossed*

Michele Bardsley weaves a very suspenseful and romantic story in a Night Without Raine. It is peppered with her usual medieval steamy romance with a bit of suspense and mystery thrown in for good measure. Bardsley never ceases to amaze or astound with each story and you will not be disappointed with this book either. This is definitely another for the keeper shelves.

Night Rising

Chris Marie Green brings to light a new twist in the vampire genre with Night Rising. Dawn Madison is called back to Tinsel town to help search for her father who has recently gone missing while investigating a case. He has been investigating a bizarre sighting of a child star named Robby that was supposed to have been dead for a while, but has been recently seen in a newly filmed movie. While working with her fathers co-workers Kiko, and Breisi, Dawn learns that vampires are not all just myth and legend. Their boss is never seen only heard and, teaches her how to use her mind to keep people out that she doesn’t want in. She also learns that Kiko has had a vision concerning her and the vampires. They get a tip from an actress named Klara, she was a co-worker of Robby’s, who lets them in on bit of information on Robby and his father and how they acted on the set and etc. with other people. They were less than private with their advances to people about things that should be kept private. There is another PI roaming around named Matt Lonigan the firm can’t figure out if he is on the up and up or if he is working for the vamps as a servant. But he has an eye for Dawn and keeps giving her information that makes sense to her. The vampires have created a world for themselves they call the Underground it is ruled by the Master and his Second in command Sorin. They also will bring in any person that would wish to reinvent themselves years later for a price. So as was the case with singer Tamsin Greene. Klara winds up dead a few days later after giving the information about Robby and his father. When Dawn and Kiko go to the Bava Bar to see if they can get a bit more information about Robby they run into Robby himself the vampire version. There is a bit of a tussle and Kiko is hurt badly luckily Dawn is trained in taking falls and draws Robby away from Kiko and talks him into going to see his mother. Kiko is sent to the hospital and Dawn goes with Breisi to see Robby’s mother to see if they can help Robby to be at peace finally.
Chris Marie Green shows us that vamps are not all myth and legend in Night Rising. Night Rising was a riveting attention getter and one that I could not put down easily. Being the vampire fan that I am I was glad to see the new twists to the vampire genre that were added instead of the age old kill’em with sun and stake’em through the heart type scenes. Green takes it a step further with each type of vamp that she introduces with each turn of the page. I will definitely want to read anything else that Chris Marie Green writes.

Dara Joy makes an exciting next in line of the Matrix of Destiny series and is a real page turner you will find yourself not wanting to put it down. This will definitely be a keeper on my shelf.
Knight of A Trillion Stars
Deana Jones thought maybe this day couldn’t get worse, since she lost her job but then things started spiraling down hill from there bad weather and all. When she thinks she is just about to seek solitude at home, a wreck blocks her car in. She must wait for the two cars blocking hers to be removed before she can go home. Hopefully she can find some solace in a junk shop across the street until the cars can be removed, and at least it has her out of the rain for a bit. While she is looking around something feels as if it is drawing her to look in this one box. In the box she finds an old necklace that looks antique with a dark stone in it. She buys it takes it home, cleans it up and decides to take it on a trip she has planned to a science fiction convention that weekend. As she walks back out into her living room she is scared half out of her wits by a man sitting in strange looking clothes on her couch. Here is, were her story begins, the man is Lorgin ta’al Krue from another universe. He is on a quest that he will not divulge to her at this time, but vows to protect her because he feels she needs protecting. When she turns on the microwave things really get interesting because he takes out something looking like a light saber and demolishes it, thinking the microwave is attacking her. She thinks that her friends that are meeting her at the convention have sent him as a joke. Lorgin won’t leave her side which Deana finds quite irritating and forcing her to take him on the trip with her. Where after dinner he sees the necklace that she bought at the junk shop on her and realizing what it is he makes his oath to her and asks for and oath in return she still thinking it is some kind of joke agrees. Once they are back in the hotel room he opens a portal and sweeps her off to his universe. Where she is totally taken aback and starts learning things may not always be what they appear to be. Lorgin takes her for much more than she thinks she and he refuses to believe her in this matter. She helps Lorgin to see things in his world that he would not see without a females touch otherwise.
Dara Joy has woven a wonderful futuristic romantic tale between these two star-crossed lovers. I look forward to reading more of her books. She takes you on a delightful journey through worlds that you never thought possible. When you finish reading this book you will want to read more.

Magic Bites
Magic is a part of Kate Daniels everyday life during the time of the day when magic makes technology go awry, cars won’t start and guns don’t want to fire. All sorts of magical things start to appear and rouge mages are able to use their magic. But when technology is able to work again Kate is there to clean up the problems that magic has left behind. She is a mercenary of sorts that helps take care of all sorts of paranormal problems. Greg Feldman was Kate’s guardian and the Knight-diviner. He has been taking care of her since her parents died. When Greg is murdered she takes on the case personally which almost proves to be more than she can handle. Each sect blames the other for a group of murders. Greg’s murder could be connected with these murders as well. Thrust into a tug of war like power struggle between the Masters of the dead and the Pack, both sides looking to Kate for answers. She starts to feel like it is a bit over her head but she likes it that way and always has. When she starts really investigating Greg’s murder things get even deeper and deeper. She also stumbles onto a guy that could be Mr. Right, but she doesn’t quite know how to handle Crest. The murders start to emulate an old case but could it be that this the same type of case again? She must look to people that she doesn’t really trust for help to solve the case.
Ilona Andrews weaves a suspenseful page-turner that you won’t want to put down. I found my self so absorbed in this book that it was finished before I knew it. She really knows how to keep your attention I will definitely be buying the sequel to this book or anything else she puts out it was a compelling read.
" I rummaged through Greg’s desk drawer for a mirror. Every self-respecting mage had a mirror close to hand. Too many spells required it. Greg’s was a rectangle set in a plain wooden frame. I caught my image in it and almost dropped the rag. My hair glowed. It radiated a weak burgundy luminescence, which shifted when I ran my hands through it, as if each individual strand of hair was coated in fluorescent paint. I shook my head, but the radiance didn’t dim. Growling at it didn’t help either, and I didn’t have the faintest idea how to get rid of it."
"I hid in the farthest corner of the room, invisible from the door, and opened the file. If you can’t make it go away wait it out."

The Borderkind

Golden brings back Oliver, Frost, Kitsune and a whole host of legendary and mythical beings in the Borderkind. Oliver must still reach both kings for his pardons before the hunters reach and kill him. He has since learned that his sister is missing, his father has been murdered, and that the police are looking to question him in a line of murders that are similar to his fathers. Meanwhile, Detective Haliwell and Oliver’s fiancé Julianna, have stumbled into the veil, through a cabin, were they were tracking Oliver on an island in
Golden continues to build a wonderful world with the Borderkind with his exemplary writing. He delves into the psyche of Oliver, Frost and Kitsune thereby helping you to understand them better. The Borderkind is a wonderful story and another for the keeper shelf. I will be picking up any books that he writes. He is a wonderful and very refreshing author that brings life to his work.
Love and tragedy: those were things she appreciated most in the movies. Some of them had monsters, but all of the monsters were human. She’d never had an interest in the other sort… could not invest any real fear in them, because she did not believe.
But Collette believed in monsters now.
Myth Hunters

Imagine all your favorite legends coming to life right before your eyes: Jack Frost, The Sandman, etc. What if one night you met one of these legendary beings and he asked you for help? What would you do? That is what happened to Oliver one winters night and, here is where our story begins. Oliver Bascombe is a lawyer with the family law firm and is set to get married in the next few days. When a very bad snow storm blows in, bringing a hurt legend with it, who turns out to be Frost. Oliver can’t believe what he sees and it takes him even longer to understand what is going on. Frost must take Oliver across the Border between both our world and theirs which is called the Veil and, by doing so saves both their lives. Once Oliver crossed into the veil he became a lost one and was no longer able to go home to his world. Frost explains that all of the Borderkind are now being hunted and now that Oliver has helped Frost he will be hunted too. He also explains that the Borderkind are the Legendaries that can cross through the veil between both worlds at will. Oliver meets a host of legendaries and Borderkind some that he remembers the legends of and some he does not. They learn very quickly who they can and cannot trust. Oliver vows to help Frost find out who is hunting the Borderkind so that he may someday be able to stay or go home to his fiancé, Julianna. But first he must get a pardon from both Kings of the veil before the hunters reach and kill him. While the detective that has been assigned to solve the case, Ted Haliwell, and Julianna, Oliver’s fiancé search for him they stumble onto the veil and become two of the lost as well. They must now find a way to follow Oliver and his new friends and find out what is going on.
Christopher Golden does and excellent job of weaving this legendary tale of myth, magic, wonder and excitement. Golden did a wonderful job of describing each char, down to every last detail, including what Frost looks like. You will be able to picture him in your mind completely right down to the last icicle and its tinkle. Golden helps to create a wonderful mythological world in your mind that you will want to daydream in. Myth Hunters was a real page turner and is definite keeper.
As he ran for the door a rush of wind rushed past him, nearly knocking him over again, and blew it shut.
Oliver stood unmoving in the middle of the parlor, staring at the door. There had been a purpose behind the wind. He was not alone. The storm was here, but it was more than just a storm.
He turned slowly. The vortex in front of the dark fireplace was changing, taking shape. Through the snow churning within that whirlwind, Oliver could see a figure, the same as he had seen outside moments ago. A man or so it seemed, made from ice, his body all perilously sharp edges, dagger fingers, and hair that swung and tinkled musically like crystal chandelier.

Dead and Dateless
If you like vampires and werewolves with a bit of murder and mystery and just a touch of comedy then Dead and Dateless is the book for you. Kimberly Raye takes the Paranormal and these other components and mixes them together with just the right touch of comedy that is sure to leave you in stitches.
Dead and Dateless is about a five hundred year old vampire named Lil Marchette that runs a dating service for the normal and paranormal. When one of her clients ends up dead and, I mean the not coming back kind of dead, Lil turns out to be the prime suspect for the case. Lil couldn't bite someone if her life depended on it. She would prefer her blood to come from a bottle. If that wasn't enough for her to deal with she has a set of customers, well you might want to call them a pack of customers, that need mates before the full moon wanes. She must also find out who the killer is along with dealing with her own
Kimberly Raye will take you on a fun ride with Dead and Dateless. It has such vivid action that I felt as if I was right there in the middle of the story with Lil. Just when you think you have the mystery solved Kimberly turns it around on you. You will be pleasantly surprised with this story, I know I was. This author is on my must by list.
"Neither do we. There are a total of fifty-two members of our organization, nearly half of whom have mates and don't need your services. I'm here on behalf of the single, uncommitted, aging NUNS. Unlike you vamps, we only have a small window for procreation fifty years to be exact. Desperation always makes one less choosy. Besides, male werewolves are bossy and overbearing and extremely territorial. You have their child and bam, they're ready to pee on every tree in your front yard. While I wouldn't mind of I found the right male werewolf, I haven't and I seriously doubt I'm going to in the next two weeks."
"Why not just go to a sperm bank?"
"We ovulate during an actual sexual encounter. Our reproductive system requires a barrage of stimuli. One can't kiss or touch or nibble a turkey baster dear."
"I see your point."
Light My Fire
Aisling is back for another encore this time in
Rene again shows up to take his cousin's place for a third time which now really makes her even more suspicious of him. Also Aisling has the whole imp nation after her because Jim, her little demon sidekick, ate their monarch by accident. It also doesn't help that attempts have been made on her life. Drake will probably want to protect her which is the way he is being a wyvern. It looks like war will break out and all hell is about to break loose.
Katie MacAlister packs action, romance and comedy together to make a wonderful book. It held my attention very well and I couldn't help but wonder what was going to happen next. It was a wonderfully captivating addition to the series. When the next book in the series Holy Smokes comes out in November of 2007 I will be sure to pick it up for my collection.
She pointed at a rat that peeked out from under a stack of garbage. "Draw a binding ward on that rat."
"Ok."I took a deep breath, and focused, and drew a symbol in the air that would when combined with my force of will, bind the rat to the spot.
The ward glowed red in the air for a second, then faded into nothing. The rat gave a squeak of surprise as it tried to scurry away. I started to turn away but, a slight flicker caught my eye. To my surprise, fire suddenly flared to life in the form of the ward I'd just drawn, sending the rat beneath it into a frenzy of horror.
"Oh, my god!" I ran over, ignoring my dislike of rodents to snatch the rat out of harm's way, swatting out the fire after I released the terrified rat. "I had no idea! I didn't see any fire with the blight hounds but the one on the furniture..."
Fire Me up
Our Guardian Aisling Grey is on a trip to
Once again things start going all awry and she finds herself in the middle of trouble all over again. Mortal men start falling at her feet, which she feels quite embarrassed over, and can't figure out why they are doing it. She is at the conference to find a Guardian mentor to help her learn her powers and maybe control the powers she does not know. You would think that would be easy but each guardian she comes into contact with turns up dead which is getting very upsetting.
Katie MacAlister delights us with another in the Aisling Grey Guardian series. It is a spectacularly written story that adds to the Aisling and Drake relationship. It keeps you guessing what Aisling and her demon are going to do or get into next. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. You will be pleasantly surprised at this addition and will want the whole collection as I do.
I nodded. “It’s pretty obvious that it has masculinity issues, which means it values its manly bits. A little flick of the knife in the demonic happy zone and voila! Instant compliance.
Nora shook her head, a slight smile on her face. “I don’t believe I have ever seen anyone control a demon using on the threat of emasculation. It is unprecedented. It is… quite an odd method of control.”
“Aisling is a very unique woman,” Drake said as he walked by holding a smoking, quivering tablecloth full of imps. “It is one of her many charms.”
I grinned at him.
